2005 - Vet's
Breakfast
Well, I have to say that the thought of
getting out of bed early enough to meet at 5:00am Saturday "morning" was not
my idea of a great start to any ride! And seemed like a VERY good
occasion to do some whining.
I was so wrong......
We left the Cracker Barrel on Chandler Blvd.
with the other brave riders in the dark. Ahead was a cold and even darker ride
down to Tucson.
And I would do it all again tomorrow.....
When we arrived at the VA center we were all
so amazed at our reception. Never having been fortunate enough to attend one
of the Vet events before I had no idea what to expect. It was one of the most
wonderful experiences I have had. The men and women we met were so incredible.
We went from table to table speaking to everyone we could. Chapter 108 did a
fantastic job organizing the event.
We got to thank just a few of the men and
women who know that our freedom really isn't free at all. We got to tell them
how much we appreciate what they have done for us all.
And we got many thanks for taking the time to
show our appreciation in this small way. My response when I heard this was,
"It's the very least we can do". And I meant it.
When we left we were asked to do a drive by
the front entrance so the Vets could see us all. The smiles and waves that
followed us out expressed such an appreciation for such a simple thing we did,
that I would gladly get up at any time to see those smiles again.
Next time we want you to
