12th Annual Southwest STAR BQ Veterans Ride
The Valley of the Sun Chapters are honored to offer a self guided Veterans ride to Wesley Bolin Plaza next to the Arizona State Capital.
Details of the Ride:
Who: Veterans Ride open to any registered STAR BQ participant.
When: Saturday, March 27
Depart: 8:00 am
Where: Wesley Bolin Plaza
Miles: Approximately 35 miles
Directions: Maps Available
This self guided ride will leave the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino at 8:00 am and arrive at Wesley Bolin Plaza at approximately 8:30 am. American flags will be provided by Jack Damwijk (STAR of Phoenix, Chapter 113, VET Rep) to be placed on a memorial of your choice. After the flag placement is completed, the ride will return to Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino.
It is expected that the return to the hotel will be around 9:30 AM so it will be possible for anyone taking this ride to also participate in the Trivia Run.
A little about Wesley Bolin Plaza:
Wesley Bolin Plaza is home to 27 memorials dedicated to topics as wide ranging as important individuals, organizations and events. Among the many memorials, some of the more prominent memorials are the mast and anchor of the USS Arizona, memorials to major wars such as World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, the Korean War and Desert Storm.

Veterans Collection – Packages From Home
The Valley of the Sun STAR Touring & Riding Chapters are honored to announce a donation drive / collection for items to help our men and women serving in our armed forces overseas.
Our collections will be going to Packages From Home (http://www.packagesfromhome.org).
There will be a box for donations on site from Friday until Saturday before the auction. Since this is a motorcycle event, we have identified eight (8) particular “Saddle Bag” friendly items that will earn you an extra ticket (per item) for the Chinese auction. These items are:
1. Coffee: Ground, vacuum packed or small cans
2. Boxer Shorts (Medium, Large and X-Large) – Packages of 2 or more
3. Foot Powder (Gold Bond, etc.)
4. Socks (Thick, White Cotton) – Packages of 6 or more
5. White Crew T-Shirts for both men and women (Medium, Large and X-Large) – Packages of 3 or more
6. Batteries (AA or AAA) – Packages of 4 or more
7. Playing Cards – 5 or more decks
8. Puzzle Books (crossword, Sudoku, word search) - 5 or more
If you can’t bring items with you or forget, the hospitality table will have a list of the closest stores where these items can be purchased.
Here is the catch. We will only give Chinese Auction tickets for the above items in the above quantities. However, the box will be there for any items that are on the list from Packages From Home. You can find the additional items at: http://www.packagesfromhome.org/things-to-donate
